Dear Thrive Team Families,

This weekend we will officially conclude our 2025/2026 competitive season with Xcel Regionals. The last two months have been filled with amazing performances, personal bests, lessons learned and an incredible sense of comradery in the gym. Our gymnasts competed and thrived at the State, Regional and National levels. They displayed incredible sportsmanship and they ended the season strong!

The energy now shifts to the excitement of upgrade season. Gymnasts get to go back to focusing on learning new skills without the pressure of performance. They get to try new things, have fun with their friends and build strength. While we may want to rush forward to thinking about next season, I would encourage our gymnasts to pause and reflect on the amazing things they accomplished this year. Our gymnasts are very achievement-minded and they can be quick to overlook how far they have come. Stopping to honor their accomplishments both big and small will help them to see how much their effort has paid off this year. Questions I would love you to ask your gymnast on a long car ride or in a quiet moment would be:

What skill were you scared of at the beginning of the season, that you now do with ease?

Which teammate did you not know well at the beginning of the year and now you look forward to seeing at practice?

What was the most challenging thing you had to face this season?

What is the thing you are most proud of in gymnastics this season?

Which competition did you feel like showed your hard work and skills off the most?

When asking these questions, be sure to leave time for the silence that will follow. Our gymnasts are great at saying what they need to improve on, however, when it comes to pointing out the achievements they just need a little more time. Give space for them to think and be sure not to fill the silence with what you think the answer may be. By letting them tell you, you will gain a deeper understanding of their athletic perspective and they will gain confidence in their own ability to assess their growth. Being able to assess growth leads to confidence and a foundation for even more progress.

We are incredibly grateful for each and every one of you. The privilege of walking through this year with each of your children is one we are honored to have. The life lessons, skills and experience of this season are truly unique. We are grateful for where we have all traveled together and we look forward to the journey ahead!

Sincerely,

Courtney
